Troon®, the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing is pleased to announce that PalmGolf Marrakech – Ourika, its second PalmGolf Morocco course with the Palmeraie Development Group, has opened to the general golfing public. Adding a further option to Troon’s bolstering collective in Morocco, the venue joins the Robert Trent Jones Jr designed sister venue PalmGolf Marrakech – Palmeraie in operation.
Following the announcement in 2013 that Troon would manage the PalmGolf properties; the International division has worked closely with the Owners to create a course that will extend the reputation of both owners and Troon set as it is against the spectacular backdrop of the Atlas Mountains.
Designed and developed by the Canadian duo, Neil Haworth (Nelson & Haworth Office) and Stéphane Talbot (Talbot Golf Design), the 18-hole course takes influence from its local surroundings, enhanced by a plantation of olive trees, palm trees and cypresses. The venue adds to the already impressive portfolio of Troon-managed properties in operation in the country, bringing the total up to five operating venues benefitting from the market-leaders expert knowledge.

From humble beginnings, the design team have carved the landscape for the course out of over 73 hectares of land, producing a semi-desert, Arizona styled layout. With wide undulating fairways woven around the 46 expertly placed bunkers, players have to plot their way carefully around the Par-72 course which extends over 6,692 metres from the Championship tees. Within the stunning backdrop of the Atlas Mountains, elevation changes and water hazards are key features of the design and its regular playing conditions, providing a fresh challenge for golfers of all abilities.

Op reis met uw golftas: tips van een pro
Het is natuurlijk fijn dat u als Flying Blue Golf deelnemer uw golftas gratis mee kunt nemen als u vliegt. Maar waar moet u op letten als u reist met uw eigen golfuitrusting? Deze nuttige tips voor onderweg en op de plaats van bestemming helpen u op weg.
Als u op uw bestemming een trolley gaat huren, dan is het slim om zelf een bandje/touwtje mee te nemen om uw tas goed mee vast te maken. Trolleys die u huurt hebben dit meestal niet en als u op een helling loopt, kan uw tas van de trolley schuiven.

Koop een travel bag
Schaf een goed passende travel bag aan. Ze zijn er in verschillende soorten en maten en ook materialen, dus neem uw huidige golftas (met clubs erin) mee naar de winkel. Een harde buitenkant (Hardcase travel cover) beschermt uw clubs uitstekend tijdens de reis en u zult er jaren plezier van hebben. Erg handig voor onderweg zijn de wieltjes aan de koffer.Bespaar gewicht
Heeft u een zwaardere tas voor op een trolley of een buggy? Denk dan aan het maximumgewicht van 23 kg voor ruimbagage. Enkele tips om gewicht te beperken: laat golfballen thuis, ze zijn zwaar en u kunt ze ter plaatse vaak voordelig aanschaffen. Wilt u uw golftas liever zelf dragen tijdens de vakantie? Dat is niet alleen sportief maar ook handig op heuvelachtige banen! Ook bespaart het u de kosten van het huren van een trolley. Er zijn tegenwoordig lichtgewicht golftassen op de markt die slechts 1 kg wegen.Overige uitrusting:
Zorg voor lichte en ruime golfschoenen en draag niet al te dunne sokken. Als u veel gaat lopen in een warm en/of vochtig klimaat, dan is de kans op blaren groot. Een doosje blarenpleisters in de bagage is dan ook echt een aanrader. Bent u van plan om iedere dag te gaan spelen, neem dan twee paar golfschoenen mee en wissel om de dag.
